Luleå!

Luleå is slowly breaking the ´silent´ stance.

Summer is coming to an end and the city is coming to life! About 12,500 new students from all around the country and world are joining the autumn semester at Luleå University of Technology (LTU).  The number is 23% higher compared with the previous year.

I see new students coming to our neighbourhood everyday. It’s good to watch the neighbourhood and the city for that matter getting crowded. In the summer, there were hardly any people.

It’s been almost a year for us here. The best thing about Luleå is that we could experience both the city pulse and nature. Archipelago, forest, business district, shopping alleys all are within reach. We could visit almost the whole city on our bikes. Bike paths are very well maintained so to speak.

On an even brighter note, European Commission appointed Luleå University of Technology along with four other Swedish universities as ´European universities´. This gives students, researchers, teachers and other staff of LTU opportunities for exchanges and increased internationalization.

It has been a long summer vacation. Wafiq’s school starts on 20 August and my classes start on 1 September. Not sure about Wafiq but I am looking forward joining the classes.
